Step 3.

So why isn't all trade Fairtrade?
 There must be a reason??

Maybe Fairtrade isn't as simple as we hoped. It is a complex issue and we have to listen to what everybody thinks. This is a fair way to do things and is exactly what you are going to do in your next task.

1) For Fairtrade:

Your task is to argue in FAVOUR of FAIRTRAD. You support Fairtrade and everyhing about it. You must convince big companies to abandon their unfair ways and make the switch to Fairtrade only. You must convince the general public to buy products with the Fairtrade mark. Often people don’t understand what the Fairtrade mark means so it will be important to illustrate this in your argument. Fairtrade products tend to be more expensive. How will you convince them that they are worth the extra money?

2) Against Fairtrade:
Your task is to argue AGAINST FAIRTRAD. You do not believe in Fairtrade products. You think that it is all a SCAM and a sneeky way to get us to pay more money for everyday things. There are many people that agree with you and many others that just think that Fairtrade products are too expensive. Consider Company's profits, the recession and whether all products labelled Fairtrade are actually fair for the farmer. Are the advertisements all lies? Is it really possible to make such a difference?
